22 Jump Street topped the Father’s Day box office weekend with a whopping $60 million in ticket sales, making it the second-best opening of all time for an R-rated comedy (after The Hangover: Part II). Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube star in the buddy cop comedy.

The film handily beat the animated family film How to Train Your Dragon 2, which took the second spot with $50 million. It was still a good weekend for Dragon, voiced by Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler and Djimon Hounsou, since the sequel surpassed the original film’s $36 million opening weekend.

Coming in at number three was Angelina Jolie's film Maleficent, which grossed $19 million for a domestic total of $163.5 million.

Rounding out the top five were Tom Cruise's sci-fi epic Edge of Tomorrow and teen romance The Fault in Our Stars, which took in $16.2 million and $15.7 million, respectively.

Next week, it’s all about Kevin Hart and crew, who blaze into theaters in Think Like a Man Too. The ensemble comedy will go up against Broadway-to-big screen adaptation Jersey Boys.
