Larenz Tate is one of those versatile actors who can pull of drama, romantic comedies, sweeping biopics and thrillers with equal conviction. The actor, who stars in the BET original movie Gun Hill, has acting chops and charm to spare.

We sat down with Tate for a two-part interview that covers his history with BET, details about his role in Gun Hill and much more. For the second half of the chat, Tate takes us back to the role that made him a household name — sensitive poet Darius Lovehall in the classic film Love Jones. Tate tells us where he thinks his character and his love interest, Nina Mosley (played by Nia Long), would be today.

Plus, the actor talks about the major role he passed up (hint: the movie also stars Nia Long) and his thoughts on the recent rash of controversy surrounding celebrity biopics.
