Apparently filling Joan Rivers’s shoes on Fashion Police was a bigger undertaking than anyone thought. Just weeks after the departure of Kelly Osbourne, Kathy Griffin, who was hired to replace the comedic icon, has announced her exodus from the style gabfest after only seven episodes according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Griffin broke the news in a long confessional via Twitter on Thursday afternoon. “After seven episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show and now it's time to move on," she wrote. Griffin then wished her former producers and network well. The D List comedienne continued, “My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about context. There is plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people's bodies into it."

Griffin referenced bodies in her Twitter resignation, but it was Fashion Police’s Giuliana Rancic’s slam of Zendaya Coleman’s hair at the Academy Awards that put the show in the eye of controversy. Osbourne, Coleman and several other African-American celebrities criticized Rancic, despite her on-air videotaped apology.

The show's two high profile exits could very well put its future in jeopardy. E! cautiously waited until January 2015 to resume production of the series after Rivers’s death in September 2014. Now it appears the long and careful search is on for two new permanent panelists.

At press time, E! had no comment.
