It "wasn't a publicity stunt," she said.

Various members of the cast of Bravo's hit series The Real Housewives of Atlanta were present at the Million Man March last month. While the historic event was attended by many celebrities, some gave the reality stars the side-eye for bringing their filming crew. Sheree Whitfield, who returns to the show this upcoming season, said that contrary to popular belief, their taped appearance was not a publicity stunt.

"I was invited by Phaedra," she told The Grio. "When you watch it, you'll see that she definitely has a lot of positive things going on in the political arena. Just going and being invited and being able to take my son so he can see all of these men of different walks of life come together for a positive cause was amazing. What you usually see on TV is the violence and that Black people can't get along, but this was positive. It definitely wasn't a publicity stunt."

She went on to say that their presence at the March may motivate other women to "get involved." "The Million Man March was a part of history. So for us to be there and to enlighten so many different people and for people to see us, it's a great thing and it opens up other mothers and women to get involved," she said.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns with season eight this month.
