Michael Stahan is known to play the field when it comes to his love life, but has been committed to Kelly Ripa — professionally, that is — for the past four years. Well, all that's about to change. The athlete-turned-TV personality is leaving his main squeeze, LIVE With Kelly and Michael, for his "side chick," Good Morning America.
Indeed, Strahan has been stepping out on Kelly to spend a few hours a week at GMA for the past couple years, and now it looks like he'll be making it a regular gig: Stahan will begin his full-time hosting duties on GMA in September. "I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team at GMA. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience,” said Strahan in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
He added, “My time with LIVE With Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet. Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I've received from all of the fans."
Joining LIVE in 2012 is the career move many credit with transforming Strahan from sports analyst to mainstream media personality. Though he's skipping out on Ripa, at least he's staying within the ABC family, as both LIVE and GMA air on the network.
No word on who will replace Strahan on LIVE, but he'll be a tough act to follow for sure.
