Another one gone too soon.
Professional wrestler and reality star Chyna, born Joan Laurer, has died. She was found unresponsive in her Redondo Beach, California, apartment on Wednesday night and declared deceased on the spot. She was 46 years old.
According to TMZ, police have ruled out foul play but the coroner is looking for signs of an overdose due to Chyna's history with drug abuse. The wrestling icon had been M.I.A. for several days and a friend who dropped by to check on her ultimately found her body.
"It is with deep sadness to inform you that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer, aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world, has passed away," said a post on her website.
Known as the "9th Wonder," Chyna was named the "Rookie of the Year for the Women's Championship" in 1996, according to her website. She wrestled in the Royal Rumble and King of Ring tournaments and became the only undefeated Women's Champion in WWF history. Chyna also appeared in TV, magazines, music videos and in adult films. She then transitioned to reality TV, appearing on The Surreal Life in 2005.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Chyna's family, friends and fans.
