One of Will Smith's kids will step into an iconic role that might make him as big a star as his pops.
Variety is reporting that 10-year-old Jaden Smith will star in a remake of "The Karate Kid," a hit 1984 movie that starred Ralph Macchio.
It will be the first lead role for Jaden, who got rave reviews in his 2006 debut performance as his father's son in "The Pursuit of Happyness." Since then Jaden has appeared in "The Day the Earth Stood Still," a film that is still in post production. Shooting on "Karate Kid" will begin in February.
Although Jaden is quite a talented actor--he won MTV and Teen Choice awards for his performance in "Happyness"-- he won't have to fake his way through the fight scenes. He's been studying martial arts for several years.
