It is often said in this space that some things just don't need to be remade. Nobody listened to WTF when we suggested that "The Women" be left alone and it bombed. Now word is that the Wayans brothers, the most financially successful black filmmakers of all time, are resurrecting a '60s TV series.

MTV News is reporting that the brothers are getting close to making the "Munsters" remake a reality.

Headed up by Shawn Wayans and his team from "Scary Movie" and "Little Man," writers are reportedly finalizing a third draft of the script.

“I’m almost ready. It’s almost ready to be shot,” Wayans said during a late night shoot on his newest film, the musical spoof “Dance Flick.” “We had to finish this movie and now we’re going through our third polish on 'The Munsters.’”

The Wayans who make the most successful junk movies ever, first announced their involvement in the project four years ago. The original show about an abnormal looking family living in a spooky house featured an all-white cast. This version, which at this point will not star any of the Wayans', will be all black.

“If we do anything, maybe we’ll do a cameo, but we’re not gonna make The Munsters black all of a sudden,” Wayans laughed. “They’re gonna be green, white people just like they were in the TV show. Their characters are still who they were in the ‘50s. It’s just in modern day.”
