Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson will compete for best supporting actress trophies at the 14th Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critics Choice Awards, which will broadcast live on VH1 Jan. 8 from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
The buzz on Henson's performance begin here at WTF last spring when she told us she'd be playing Brad Pitt's mama in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Yep, WTF was like "WTF?" Henson, best known for her roles in "Hustle and Flow" and "Talk to Me," is so in good in this that she might get some Oscar love, too.
Davis, who costars with two-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep in "Doubt," also turned in a stellar performance. Davis and Henson will go up against Penelope Cruz (“Vicky Cristina Barcelona”), Vera Farmiga (“Nothing But the Truth”), Marisa Tomei, (“The Wrestler”) and Kate Winslet (“The Reader”).
Robbed in this category was Sophie Okonedo from "The Secret Life of Bees." She played May, the middle sister struggling with emotional issues in that drama about three southern sisters running a beekeeping business during the Civil Rights era.
