Word on the Boulevard for months has been that the major studios are in bidding wars for the rights to Barack Obama's life story regardless of whether he occupies the Oval Office in January. But who would play the Prez?
I have some ideas.
Because Obama is biracial--and that's a big part of his story--many of the usual suspects like Will, Jamie, Cheadle, Denzel, Ludacris (just joking), Eddie or Martin Lawrence wouldn't be appropriate.
Terrence Howard might fit the bill. He has the chops to handle the role, but I'm not sure I'd buy him as the President of the free world. That might be too hard for a pimp.
Shemar Moore is the right complexion, but I don't think he has the chops to carry a film plus he's too pretty. He would be perfect for the first boy role or something like that.
Right now I'm thinking Obama's Chicago homeboy Daniel Sunjata would be right for the role. He's not a household name yet, but if he snagged this part he would be. He used to be one of the stars of a short-lived network drama called "D.C." and was most recently on "Rescue Me." Plus he kind of looks like old boy, don't you agree?
My other casting suggestions: Jaden Smith would be perfect as Obama the boy. Tarjai P. Henson as Michelle and Willow Smith and KeKe Palmer could play the Obama kids.
Hello Hollywood. Problem solved. Now who could play Luda? Hmmm. We'll discuss that in a future post.
