Oscar winner Denzel Washington has agreed to appear in "The Brother of Eli," a post-apocalyptic drama being directed by twin brothers Allen and Albert Hughes.
The flick, which will start shooting in January in Mexico, features Washington as a hero who tries to convince a troubled society that redemption is the only way to move forward.
"Eli" marks the first time Washington has worked with the Hughes brothers who brought us "From Hell," "Menace II Society" and "Dead Presidents." Washington, who was last seen in "The Great Debators"--a film he also directed--recently completed "The Taking of Pelham 123" in which he plays a police lieutenant. It's also been announced that he will reunite with Spike Lee for the sequel to the mega successful "Inside Man."
