As we all know
, Hollywood is running out of ideas so instead of doing full remakes now folks are deciding to re-release movies but with a remix -- think of the musical artists of today who re-release albums two or three times. First, there is 1997's Titanic, which is set to be released in 3-D. According to our friends over at MTV.com:
Jack and Rose's "Titanic" love will indeed go on... and on... and on thanks to a newly announced 3D makeover. The MTV Movies Blog caught up with "Titanic" director James Cameron at Comic-Con where he revealed his plans to "dimensionalize" the 1997 blockbuster.
Working on the upcoming 3D flick "Avatar" is what inspired James Cameron to give his watery epic the multi-dimensional makeover. According to Cinematical, the process will take one year to 14 months to complete, meaning the revamped film could likely hit the big screen sometime in 2011, probably around the much-coveted holiday season.
I think Jack and Rose do just fine in high definition on TNT.
Then there is 1939 film The Wizard of Oz
, which is being digitally remastered according to The Hollywood Reporter:
A new, 4K restoration of "The Wizard of Oz" will screen digitally Monday at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater as part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' series "Hollywood's Greatest Year: The Best Picture Nominees of 1939."
No word if the restoration version will be released in theaters, but I have a feeling it will.
looks like a definite... I wonder if they will have Celine Dion sing "My Heart Will Go On" in autotune?
