Kerry Washington
has no problem taking a risk for a good script. She was phenomenal as a transgender woman in
Life Is Hot In Cracktown
and she played a lesbian in
Spike Lee
's
She Hate Me
. Now, she wants a role in the biopic of soul singer
Dusty Springfield
, which will star Broadway diva
Kristin Chenoweth
.
Dusty Springfield was a lesbian and Chenoweth has already said she wants Washington to play her lover. Kerry was ecstatcis about it. She told E!:
What does Ms. Washington think about this? Well, we just got off the phone with her and…
Washington says she'd jump at the chance to lock lips with the big-piped pint-size entertainer.
After reading our original interview with Chenoweth, Washington ran into her at an L.A. eatery. "I was like, 'I would love to be your lesbian lover!'" Washington says from New York City, where she's starring on Broadway in playwright David Mamet's
Race. "It's very exciting. I feeling like I've been waiting to make out with her
forever."
This story has made the rounds on the web and what is shocking is that it's news -- people still care if actors play gay? Nowadays, straights actors are playing more of the gay roles than gay actors.
