Tye discovered his skills in the kitchen with the aid of his late dear grandmother at a young age . Unknowingly these skills would lead him away from the hood lifestyle that he grew up in. It would lead him down the road to success and notoriety in the Hip Hop Industry.

Tye’s love of the streets came natural, he was attracted to the lavish lifestyle’s that the streets had to offer. His prominent future was almost put on hold because of a bad judgment call on his behalf. He turned to the Military for a second chance. While enlisted, he honed his skills as a culinary specialist and later went on to train and complete a Chef apprentice program at The Double Tree Hotel. It was at the hotel where he first rubbed elbows with some of Hip-Hops elite, such as Tupac, Biggie and LL Cool J just to name a few. Tye began to see his vision and he was determined to step-up to the plate as one of the first Hip Hop Chefs.

His big break finally came when he was introduced to Executive Vice President of Warner Music Group Kevin Liles. This was just the beginning of the high profile clientele that Chef Tye would acquire. Today he is now known as The Official Hip Hop Chef (aka Cookin Tye).
