Halle Berry is stepping into an exciting new business venture in Germany. The Oscar award-winning beauty is creating her first shoe line, 5th Avenue by Halle Berry, with German retailer Deichmann Shoes.
Berry, who is a spokesperson in Europe for the German company, helped design 40 limited edition shoes in stylish designs from studded gladiator wedges to woven flats. She shot a commercial for the line in Berlin, where she modeled peep-toe wedges. In behind-the-scenes footage, she also checked out some of the new designs while chatting with Deichmann’s marketing head, Andreas Conze. “I feel honored because I like all these shoes I would wear, so it’s nice to be a part of something that I really believe in, that I think is a quality product to offer the consumer. To have my name on that feels really good," Halle said.
Whether she’s standing tall in stilettos on a red carpet or running her daughter, Nahla, around in flip flops, Halle does it stylishly and, for her, shoes are “an expression of who you are." “Women have always loved shoes,” she said. "It's like if your hair is not right and your shoes are not right, the woman is not right. If both of them are right, you're pretty much OK. Shoes are a statement.”
Halle says the commercial will relate to her “real life,” who she is as a person and what she does while relating her love for shoes. The spring/summer 2012 collection hits shelves in 21 European countries starting in early March, though there's no word on when they’ll arrive in the U.S.
