Beyoncé Confesses to Primping for Blue's Birth

The star got her nails, feet and hair done in preparation. Plus, she reflects on the benefits of breastfeeding.

Rumors had it Beyoncé shut down an entire floor of NYC's Lenox Hill Hospital, where she delivered daughter Blue Ivy Carter, and while the singer has vehemently denied those claims, she might have very well shut down a spa before having her baby girl. "I did have a fresh eyebrow wax," People's 2012 Most Beautiful Woman spilled to the magazine. "I got my nails done, I got my feet done, had my hair done, and I had my little lip gloss."

In the end, however, none of it mattered. "I didn't feel that I looked beautiful during birth, but who does? After being pumped with all those fluids and gaining so much weight ... I barely recognized myself," she said. “After many hours of labor, I could care less about anything but my child. I didn't care how I looked."
Now that Blue has made her debut into the world, the new mom has been thinking about her looks again and much has been said about her “post baby weight” and how she’s lost it. Beyoncé said she employed a “strict” diet and exercise regimen “about a month” after she gave birth: "I counted calories. I worked out ... I did a lot of walking in the beginning and now I'm running. But I had to work my way up. I couldn't just go right from being pregnant to running."
Still, she credits shedding most of the 50 pregnancy pounds she gained to breastfeeding Blue for 10 weeks. "I lost most of my weight from breastfeeding and I encourage women to do it; it’s just so good for the baby and good for yourself,” she said.
