Pharrell Partners Up with G-Star Raw for Eco-Friendly Collection

The collection, RAW for the Ocean, will be made from yarn made from plastic bottles.

Pharrell Williams has teamed up with G-Star Raw for a collection of jeans made from recycled materials. The singer-producer-designer will work with the denim brand and Bionic Yarn, which develops and creates yarn and fabrics from plastic bottles, to launch RAW for the Oceans. The project came about through Williams' and G-Star's work with The Vortex Project, which "co-create projects to end the destruction of the oceans be made from recycled materials collected from the oceans and it's shores."

"Working with G-Star was an obvious choice, because they have a legacy of pushing the boundaries of fashion and denim forward," Williams said. "Bionic Yarn is a company built around performance, and denim is the perfect category to show the world what Bionic Yarn can do. Everyone has jeans in their closet."

G-Star Raw will also start incorporating Bionic Yarn for its current product lines.
