Gabourey Sidibe on Cyber Bullies: "That Stuff Does Hurt My Feelings"

The actress says she has to remind herself that she's happy and living her dream.

Cyber bullies can be a ruthless bunch sometimes, banding together and attacking people under the mask of anonymity. Celebrities might be superstars, but at the end of the day they're human like everybody else and are often the subject of harsh ridicule simply because they live under the public eye. Gabourey Sidibe is often the victim of such ruthless comments because of her appearance and bullies seem to forget that she merely played the titular character in the film Precious and is not actually the young woman she portrayed on screen.

Sidibe seems to take these mean comments in stride, which was evident through her hilarious strike back after Twitter haters were talking trash about her Golden Globes look. But it turns out that, as confident as she, the bullying does affect her and she has to keep reminding herself of how awesome she is regardless of what the trolls might say.

"I feel like they're talking about me because I'm busy," Sidibe told Roland Martin at the 45th NAACP Image Awards. "That stuff does hurt my feelings because I'm a human being. I'm not a weak, sensitive person. I'm merely a person…I have to tell myself sometimes, 'These strangers are saying things about you but look around you. You are in your dream. You're in everybody else's dream. You're living a really good life and you're happy.'"
