Kanye West’s Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 is the best sneaker of all time — well, if you let him tell it. But the insanely popular, swagged-out sneaker was named Shoe of the Year at the Footwear News 29th Annual Achievement Awards this week, which is pretty impressive considering how hard the rapper/producer had to work to earn some cred in the fashion biz.
Accepting the award, ‘Ye had a rare smile plastered on his face and blessed the crowd with yet another poignant speech. “I want to f*****g draw shoes, and it doesn’t matter if someone thinks that I’m supposed to be doing something that’s more important. [Adidas] gave me the opportunity, especially this first run, to make ’em however I want to make ’em,” he said.
“As a creator, it doesn’t matter how big your house is, how big your name is, how much money you have, your job is to create while you’re here and if anyone is in the way of that, if anything gets in the way of that, you got to burn it to the f*****g ground.”
On his #lifegoals for the moment, the “All Day” rapper closed with this gem: “I’m trying to take a full ‘Will Ferrell drunk brother at the wedding’ vibe. Have I reached that level yet? Here’s to f*****g everything up!”
Well, alrighty then. Retailing for $200, the Yeezy Boost 350s in the dark gray “Moonrock” colorway recently hit retail. But good luck snagging a pair in this lifetime, bruh.
