The Miami Heat and the Miami City Ballet are teaming up to celebrate 25 years of basketball and ballet in the city. During Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the company's principal dancers and sisters Jeanette and Patricia Delgado participated in various in-game activities to promote the celebration. Heat players LeBron James and Dwyane Wade also partnered up with the sisters for promo shots that show off the athletic parallels between sport and dance.
The photos will serve as the campaign's centerpiece to drum up excitement about the arts scene on Miami's Biscayne Boulevard as well as the Miami City Ballet, which performs at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and is close to the Heat's home at the American Airlines Arena.
"It's always good for our fans to see something different out of us; to see us interact in a different way," said Wade. "We feel at times we're like graceful dancers in the air so it's good to put the two worlds together. Miami's about versatility — the whole culture. It's good that we can bring that into sports."
