Dwyane Wade is looking sharp on the cover of JET's June issue. Inside, the Miami Heat point guard opens up about fatherhood and his marriage to ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. The two had a bitter custody battle and Funches even accused Wade's current girlfriend Gabrielle Union of being a bad influence on her children.
"I didn't set out to get full custody but I wasn't able to see my kids the way I wanted and I'm not a parent who's going to run away from his responsibilities," Wade said. "I was probably a terrible husband, but I pride myself on being a good dad."
He adds that he hopes he and Funches can reach a "point where it's a lot easier than it is now to co-parent." Until then, Wade is doing his best to be there for his boys and shared some insight into his parenting style.
"I'm the kind of parent who asks my kids questions like what would be your ideal thing to do in the summer?…Even though I make the final decision, I want them to feel involved. Not only in vacations but other things as well," he said.
