While some women might credit entering motherhood as the reason for their weight gain, Jennifer Hudson says giving birth to her son inspired her to lose weight and get healthy. She shared with Everyday Health that it was only four days after having David that she decided she needed to have better habits that her son could emulate.

She gave Weight Watchers a try because instead of making her sacrifice the things she loved to eat, it taught her about setting realistic expectations and making changes that would last longer than a restrictive diet.

"It taught me how to eat, how to measure my portions, and know what I was putting in my body," Hudson said.

Not only did she want to be an example for her son, but she also points out that her drive to be the best mom includes what she puts into her own body adding, "Your baby's going to eat what you're going to eat."

Now that she's lost 80 pounds through the program, she's partnering up with Weight Watchers to continue promoting healthy living. She'll be awarding grants for weight loss support for Baltimore residents who are overweight and receive local, state or federal assistance. Hudson will also mentor new mothers on their journey to a healthier lifestyle and teach them how to take baby steps to improve despite their socioeconomic situation.

"It's about making the smartest decision and the right decision," she said. "Outsmart food, don't let it outsmart you." always gives you the latest fashion and beauty trends, tips and news. We are committed to bringing you the best of Black lifestyle and celebrity culture.
