(The EDIT for Net-a-Porter, March 2014)
Zoe Saldana is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, yet she managed to pull off the seemingly impossible: her surprise wedding to Italian artist Marco Perego last summer.
“I’m not a private person, but I am discreet, so it felt right,” the actress tells Net-A-Porter’s The Edit of her low-key wedding in a small town near Surrey, England. The Guardians of the Galaxy star adds, “I’m fortunate to be challenged by an artist who also pushes himself.”
And while the famously svelte starlet is known for kicking butt on screen, she happily admits to “letting herself go” in recent months. Among her favorite food indulgences? “I’ve been eating a lot of Chinese, pasta, rice, beans...” she says, though we'd never know it judging by the gorgeous shot of her on the magazine's cover.
“I’ve been an active person my whole life. The past year has been the only time in my life that I haven’t been to the gym. I’ve been lazy instead of training for something and pushing myself, not because I am trying to be skinny. I just like to know how much endurance I have. But this past year I’ve let myself go.”
She may be skipping the gym, but she’s certainly keeping busy, with Guardians of the Galaxy hitting theaters in August and starring roles in the Nina Simone biopic and Rosemary’s Baby TV remake. We say treat yourself, Zoe. You’ve certainly earned it.
