Nicki Minaj Opens Up About Her Teen Pregnancy With Rolling Stone

The rapper says abortion was the right decision, but it has "haunted" her.

Nicki Minaj is continuing her new trend of peeling back the layers that make up Onika Tanya Maraj in her cover story for Rolling Stone’s latest issue. The rapper reveals quite a bit on her Terry Richardson-shot cover in which she poses with a stretched down wet and white tank top, lots of cleavage, cat-eye makeup and long wavy hair. Inside, she opens up about an event that has haunted her all these years — ending an unplanned pregnancy when she was a teenager.

"I thought I was going to die," she said about getting pregnant with an older boyfriend she claims was her first love. "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through."

She went through an abortion and although it’s a decision she says has "haunted me all my life," she doesn’t regret it. “It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice. I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child,” Minaj said.

Minaj went on to graduate from New York City’s La Guardia High School, a specialized school that focuses on the visual and performing arts. Today, she says her mission is to inspire other women to embrace their sexuality while never giving up on the smarts.

“With a video like 'Anaconda,' I'm a grown-a** f**king woman!" she said. "I stand for girls wanting to be sexy and dance, but also having a strong sense of themselves. If you got a big ol' butt? Shake it! Who cares? That doesn't mean you shouldn't be graduating from college."
