Lil Wayne apparently won't be going in just yet. According to the rapper's attorney, Weezy's sentencing has been delayed until March 2 due to dental surgery.
As previously reported, Wayne was scheduled to be formally sentenced today and begin serving his one-year prison term in Riker's Island. He reached a plea deal with Manhattan, NY prosecutors on gun charges stemming from a 2007 arrest.
Word is Wayne, accompanied by Cash Money executives Birdman and Slim Williams, reported to court at roughly 2 p.m. Stacey Richman, Wayne's attorney, told the judge she sent a note to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office explaining that Wayne has a cracked tooth and will need to delay his sentence.
Per Richman, Wayne is scheduled to undergo surgery February 12 in Miami and will need between a week to 10 days to recover. According to MTV, Wayne's team offered that he turn himself in on February 25, but judge Charles H. Solomon picked March 2 as the new sentencing date.
The judge then cautioned Wayne that he should return to Miami today (Feb. 9) rather than leave tomorrow (Feb. 10) and possibly postpone his surgery due to expected weather complications in New York.
"I don't want this to be pushed back anymore," Solomon "This is the last adjournment."
