Soulja Boy Clears Up Probation Rumors

Published March 4, 2010

Back in early February, numerous news outlets reported that Soulja Boy received probation for his part in a video shoot that took place in an abandoned house, but according to the rap superstar, his record is clean and the information was misleading.

"I just want to let everybody know that I didn't get probation. That was like a news blast that was everywhere," Soulja Boy told in an exclusive interview. "I know there's like 12 months probation going around, but I just want to let all my fans know that I ain't got no record. I ain't got no probation or nothing."

In October 2009, Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez, was one of 40 people who fled the scene when police showed up at an abandoned house where a video was being filmed. Police were responding to complaints in the neighborhood.

"I did go to court, but I just had to pay a fine so I'm not on probation," he says. According to reports, Soulja Boy appeared in court and was ordered to pay a $1000 fine.
