Drake Concert Canceled After Fans Become Unruly

Published June 16, 2010

Drake's album release day wasn't as pleasent as he had hoped.

The rapper was slated to perform during a free show given by PAPER Magazine for its "Sounds Like Paper" summer concert series at Pier 17 on NYC's South Street Seaport, but due to an overwhelming turnout, police were forced to shut down the event.

The event commenced at 6pm, but due to unruly actions from some of the attendees, the organizers were forced to stop the event. Police reports state that while 10,000 people were anticipated for the show, 20,000 showed up.

Many concertgoers began throwing bottles and chairs from rooftops for reasons unknown. PAPER Magazine officials requested help from the NYPD around 7pm. Paul Browne of the NYPD revealed that two people were arrested on minor charges and six others suffered slight injuries.

Reps from Drake's camp have yet to comment on the canceled show.
