Hurricane Katrina Delayed Lil Wayne Paternity Suit

Published November 16, 2010

Lil Wayne's current paternity case could have been behind him if not for Hurricane Katrina.

According to the plaintiff's lawyer, her client "tried multiple times to get a paternity test" from Wayne, but the procedures really slowed down when Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans.

Noting that the New Orleans court system already moves slowly, the lawyer revealed that court documents were destroyed in the hurricane's aftermath, delaying their case for a few years.

As previously reported, Weezy has to submit a DNA test by December 9 after a Missouri woman filed a lawsuit alleging the rapper is her 8-year-old child's father. The rapper was reportedly incarcerated on Rikers Island when the woman's grandmother first obtained the court order.
