During the mid 1990s rapper/hype-man Freaky Tah rose to fame as the high energy personality in the Queens rap group The Lost Boyz. The group was best known for rap classics like "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz, & Benz" and "Renee."

On March 28, 1999, during the height of the group’s fame, Tah was shot in the back of the head while leaving a birthday party for group mate Mr. Cheeks at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in South Jamaica. The gunman, Kelvin Jones, is now serving a sentence of 15 years to life. An accomplice, Raheem Fletcher, was given seven years.

Tah would’ve been 40 years old this week and in honor of the fallen group member, fans and affiliates of the crew will gather in his hometown to remember him, reports allhiphop.

The memorial celebration will take place on Saturday (May 14) at Lincoln Park in South Ozone, Queens.
