Chris Brown and Odd Future Try to Dead the Beef

After a Twitter feud goes to the streets, the artists come to a resolution.

Published June 25, 2011

In the beginning of June we reported on a Twitter feud that erupted between members of Odd Future, mainly Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean, and Chris Brown. What started as a mild back and forth escalated to the most recent run-in when Chris Brown's cousin, Mijo, chased Ocean in a car.

Words shared on Twitter often stay in the online world, however this extended fight made its way to a concert in Cali this week. Before Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean performed "She" the crowd began chanting, "F*ck Chris Brown." To this the emcee's responded, "He's a loser. He beats up women, he's a b*tch."

Three days later, reports that Frank Ocean went to Chris's dance studio, but ran away when he spotted Breezy. It was then that Mijo, Chris's cousin, chased Frank down in the car yelling and filming. That's when it got a little too real for all the artists involved.

On June 23 Tyler tweeted:

It Never Ends Well. They React, We React, Then Each Time Opposite Sides Wanna F*cking "Up" The Bar. Then Next Thing U Know: Someone Around Is F*cking Popped.

@chrisbrown Sh*t Got Too Real On Both Ends. I'm Over It. We're All Over This Sh*t. Its Stupid As F*ck. Swag It Out.

Breezy added his truce tweet as well:

This beef shit is stupid, @frank_ocean I respect ya music and you and Odd Future! Ain't beefing wit nobody. Y'all can have that! Love

Frank Ocean did not add as many definitive words, but he did tweet:

freeze on social networks for a minute. freeze on the internet. freeze on the matrix. real world time. brb.

He has not tweeted anything since.

It looks like all is settled for now. Will any of this reemerge in the near future? That's yet to be determined. However their ability to de-escalate the feud before it became too serious shows that sometimes beef can be simmered down and squashed.
