It didn’t take long for R&B singers Lloyd and Miguel to hash out their “haircut” beef. Over the weekend, at Z107.9’s Summer Jam in Cleveland, the pint-size crooners cleared the air and squashed the issue.
Last week, the “Sure Thing” singer sparked the drama when he tweeted, "Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Shout to Lloyd,” after seeing a photo of Lloyd’s new haircut, which looked very similar to his Mohawk cut.
Miguel attempted to squash the beef backstage at the show by bursting into Lloyd’s dressing room singing the theme song from the sitcom The Wayan’s Brothers: “We’re brothers/We’re happy and we’re singing and we’re colored.”
With Z107.9 cameras catching the action, Lloyd ignored the singer’s antics and confronted Miguel about his comments. “Why would you even do that though?” he asked.
Miguel defended himself by responding, “I’m being honest. But it’s not on a dis s*** though.” The two agreed that people “tried to make it bigger than it really is,” but Miguel also admitted that the tweet “should have never been said.”
“The fact is that I was not trying to imitate you,” Lloyd explained to Miguel. “I just felt like it was disrespectful. On some real s---, it was cheap and I felt like it was distasteful. The idea behind it wasn't to mock you or imitate you; it was just to shave my [hair] so I could get a tattoo. For you to say that and bring all that kind of energy to me... It's album release week, so why am I answering questions about Miguel, when I should be talking about my album that I worked two years for?"
Miguel eventually apologized for the sending the tweet, and just like that, the two officially squashed their R & Beef.
