Bow Wow Pushes Back Release Date for New Album

Fans will have to wait another month to hear the long awaited Underrated.

Published September 9, 2011

Since signing to Cash Money Records in 2009 Bow Wow has been working on his label debut, Underrated. Unfortunately the drop date has been pushed back from November to December. The rapper announced the delay on his blog, saying the "reason being is mixing plus clearances for the records. Typical (Business Sh*t) no biggie."

Bow Wow has been putting a lot of work and passion into this album, and another month may be just what he needs for it to reach perfection. He blogged, "Look at it this way, Im trying to perfect something for my fans. When you going into a store and buy my sh*t, i want to make sure its worth your dollar. This is my van gogh my basquiat. Its my art. I now have the time to give yall way more material and videos than before." He also announced that he plans to drop singles before the album release.

Cash Money CEO Birdman has a track record of bringing hitmakers into his camp. Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj are just a few of the most popular. He sees this same star power in Bow. "I think Bow Wow is going to surprise a lot of people with his Underrated album. I see greatness in the young boy...I’m putting him with the Waynes and the Drakes and letting him do his thing. But at the end of the day, Bow Wow has to do him."

Only two months and we'll hear how the label has affected and changed Bow Wow's sound. He's always sold records, but hasn't always gotten the hip hop credibility that many rapper's receive. He called his album Underrated because that's what he feels he is. Will he finally get the appreciation he thinks he deserves?
