India.Arie is back in the limelight but not for the reasons one would hope. The reclusive soul singer has filed a counter lawsuit against her former manager Noreen Nalli, whom she employed from 2005 to 2006 reports TMZ.
The paperwork comes in response to a suit Nalli filed in federal court in Tennessee claiming rights to money that Arie doesn't necessarily owe her but for money Arie lost for not being cooperative and proactive about her own career.
Nalli claims that the Grammy Award-winning singer sabotaged herself by doing things like refusing gigs, canceling numerous shows on a whim and going M.I.A. for weeks at a time which Nalli says cost both Arie and herself a lot of money. On top of all that Nalli claims that India fired her without any notice.
The former manager is upset about all the money she lost dealing with the unmanageable star and Arie is seeking to prove that Nalli was overpaid.
A rep for India told TMZ that "she remains hopeful that the matter will be resolved amicably."
