Big Sean is gearing up for a big second half of 2012 with a new mixtape, the G.O.O.D. Music album and the follow up to his 2011 debut, Finally Famous. While Sean has yet to announce a name for his anticipated sophomore LP, in a new interview he said he already has nine songs in the can.
"I probably got about nine songs for the next album, and we just going hard," he said in a phone call with DJ SWHiT for the Femme Fatale Mixshow. "Of course, I got tons of other material on deck."
The Detroit MC, who has three nominations at the BET Awards 2012, said the record is nearing completion and that fans should expect a new single very soon.
"We almost done with it. I’ve been working my a-- off, man," he said. "We’ve got so many songs. We’ve probably gonna have to drop a single this month. If not, definitely next month. We already got it."
Sean recently appeared on the new Lil Wayne single, "My Homies Still," which is something of a remake of his platinum single "Dance (A$$)." The collaboration surprised audiences due to Wayne's recent beef with Sean's G.O.O.D. Music brother Pusha T, but in the interview, he said he recorded his part of the song several months ago.
"Wayne hit me up about five, six months ago for that song. They sent it over and I just knocked it out," he said.
Despite the tension between the two rappers' camps, Sean said he still admires Weezy and has since he was a kid.
"Wayne was somebody I personally looked up to, riding around high school, listening to his mixtapes and all that," he said. "It was just I thought it was an honor for him to reach out and be like, I want this for the album."
