Michelle Williams' solo career is about to be born again. The former Destiny's Child star announced yesterday that she's signed a new record deal with the gospel music label Light Records via eOne.

Williams has released two gospel albums previously, 2002's Heart to Yours and 2004's Do You Know. Her most recent album, Unexpected, was a secular pop-R&B-dance album released in 2008.

"I'm so excited about this new venture! I've accepted what my purpose is...I have peace about it!" Michelle wrote in a tweet. In a separate press release, she said she was honored to join Light Records, which was previously home to artists she looked up to like the Winans and Andrae Crouch.

"When I was a little girl I would listen to them and to be on the same label they once were is amazing!" she said.

Williams' first album for Light Records is expected in January 2013.
