TLC Prepping New Music and Reunion Tour

R&B group working with Dallas Austin and J. Cole.

TLC has a lot planned for this year, and fans will be happy to know that a tour and new music are both on the agenda. The R&B group is prepping the release of their VH1 biopic, and will perform at this year's MixTape Festival, but that's only the beginning of what's to come.

Speaking to Billboard, Rozonda "Chili" Thomas and Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins dropped details on what to expect for 2013. "This is just the beginning," Chili promised. "This is going to be a great year for TLC. It's just time. It's time for us to do everything."

Aside from hitting the MixTape Festival in July, TLC will head overseas to perform in Japan,  where they will receive a Legends Awards from the country's version of MTV. A new tour is also in the works, sans a hologram version of Lisa "LeftEye" Lopes, who died in a 2002 car accident. "I don't even know how that got out," Chili said of a rumored plot to mirror the special effects that resurrected Tupac Shakur's image at last year's Coachella Music Festival. "We never said that was something we're gonna do. It's definitely something we thought about, like years ago. But I think it's very creepy," she explained. "We're still in the creative process in figuring out how we're going to involve Lisa and stuff like that."

Despite living on opposite coasts (T-Boz spends her time in L.A., while Atlanta is home base for Chili) the duo has been heavy in the studio and has re-recorded some of their biggest hits for the biopic's soundtrack. Due out sometime this year, both members executive produced, while Keke Palmer (Chili), Drew Sidora (T-Boz), Lil Mama (Left Eye) and Evan Ross (TLC producer Dallas Austin) star in the movie. "It's gonna be juicy...good juicy!" Chili said of the project, which will "touch on a lot of things people did not know about."

This year also marks a musical reunion between TLC and Austin, and a collaboration of some sort with J. Cole. Keeping much of the specifics under wraps, these days TLC is focusing on giving back to their loyal supporters. "We just really want to get out there and perform and do shows," T-Boz added. "And thank God people want to see us."
