Scott Storch wants celebrities to be cautious going into MTV's Video Music Awards weekend, and for good reason. Storch confirmed that he was robbed in New York earlier in the week and recounted the incident on MTV's RapFix Live Wednesday (Aug. 21).
Contrary to reports that he was at a hotel, Storch was actually exiting a recording studio when two "7-foot-tall thugs" ran up on him with guns. "I was walking out the studio, they just got us before we could get into the car," he said.
The men threatened his life, and made off with $100,000 worth of jewelry and $5,000 in jewelry. "I'm not really worried about losing that stuff," Storch explained. "Just as long as my family and myself are okay."
With tons of foot traffic spilling over into Brooklyn where the VMAs will be held, the New York native wasn't exactly surprised by the hit (he called it a "set up") but hopes other celebs will keep an eye out for criminals. "People are on the hunt right now. There's a lot of chains and watches out there and VMAs are on, so people gotta' make sure their security teams are right."
