K. Michelle Hit With a Tax Lien

Singer reportedly owes $52K, says debt is already settled.

K. Michelle has some tax issues that need tending to. The IRS filed a $52,000 lien against the former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star for not paying taxes in 2008 and 2009, reports TMZ.

Michelle, a.k.a. Kimberly Michelle Pate, owes Uncle Sam $47,710.46 in back taxes from 2008, plus an additional $4,704.63 from the following year, bringing her grand total to $52,415.09.

2008 was the same year the "V.S.O.P" singer signed a reported $2 million record deal with Jive and released the singles "Self Made" and the Missy Elliott-assisted "Fakin It." The music never took off though, and the Tennessee native asked to be bought out of her deal, which landed her at RCA Records in 2011. She premiered as one of the cast members of VH1's LHHATL a year later, and has since joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop New York.

The single mom's net worth was last reported at $500,000, which may have skyrocketed due to her popularity on the show and new music ventures. She addressed the lien via Instagram this morning, lambasting reports of an open debt. "Nice try bloggers, it's already been settled."
