Diddy, Rick Ross Offer to Buy the Clippers

The rap game puts its bid in for NBA team after Donald Sterling debacle.

Diddy and Rick Ross want to buy the Los Angeles Clippers after team owner Donald Sterling was barred from the league yesterday (April 29). 

NBA commissioner Adam Silver handed down a lifetime ban to Sterling after a recording of the 81-year-old making racist comments found its way online last week. Silver fined Sterling $2.5 million, the maximum amount allowed by the league. He is worth $1.9 billion. Additionally, he is no longer allowed to attend any NBA games and will likely be forced to sell the team he bought for $12 million more than three decades ago.

After hearing the news, Diddy and Rozay decided that they wouldn't mind taking the Clipset off Sterling's hands. The MMG leader wants to use the Clippers to expand his chicken empire. "I'd be interested in investing in @LAclippers !!!! Make It #WingstopArena@WingstopCEO Lets Goooo !!!" he tweeted yesterday.

Meanwhile, native New Yorker Diddy sees buying the Cali team as an all around good business venture. "I will always be a Knicks fan, but I am a business man. #DiddyBuyTheClippers#NameYourPrice," he tweeted.

If the Clippers are actually up for grabs, Diddy and the Bawse might have to get in line. Oprah and Magic Johnson, the latter of whom Sterling names in the recording as one of the Black people he doesn't want attending his games, are rumored to be considering buying the team as well.    

Sterling has reportedly said that he will not be selling the Clippers.
