Nas is commemorating a huge milestone with the Essence Festival.
The show kicks off the 20th Annivesary Essence Festival weekend festivities, from July 3-6 at the New Orleans Superdome. Trey Songz, K. Michelle, and Jazmine Sullivan are also billed for the Now Playing stage.
The stop at Essence adds another slot on Nas's 2014 tour toasting 20 years of Illmatic. His other show stops have included the SXSW and Coachella festivals. "ESSENCE is excited to welcome hip-hop legend and musical prodigy Nas to kick off our 20th Anniversary celebration, especially as he commemorates his own impressive 20 year milestone," Essence President Michael Eubanks said in a statement.
There will be 20 stages of performances this year, with Prince headlining night one of the Essence Festival's main stage of shows on July 4. Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, and Lionel Richie are among the main stage names, while newcomers like Elle Varner, August Alsina, and Sevyn Streeter will perform in the Superlounges.
