IRS documents outlined two tax liens placed on the "Money Talks" rapper for allegedly owing more than $611,000 in taxes for 2008 and another $178,000 for 2012.
Over the past few years Busta has made headlines for legal woes. In 2009 a Brooklyn judge ordered him to cough up $75,000 to a fan who said Busta assaulted him in 2003.
But he's not the first music star with tax trouble. Recently, Fat Joe served four months in jail in 2013 in addition to paying the government over $1 million for a $718,038 debt. Lauryn Hill was nabbed for tax evasion in 2012; she avoided three-years' fed time by paying $500,000 to the IRS and serving three months in prison and three months on house arrest. And Beanie Sigel was sentenced to a two-year prison term in 2012 for failure to pay more than $728,000 in taxes since 1999.
Hopefully Busta won't have to do a bid. But he doesn't seem worried. He hasn't made mention of the potential problem on his social media as of press time, instead, he's focused on his date to hit the stage at Dave Chapelle's Radio City Music Hall three-night comedy and concert event June 24-26. Other performers include the Roots, Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu and DJ Premier.
