Prince Makes Big Announcement

Singer gives the breakdown on not one, but two upcoming LPs, Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum.

Like true music royalty, Prince announced on Monday (Aug. 25) that he is set to release not one, but two full-length albums in the fall with all new material.

Marking his first official releases since 2010's 20Ten, the two projects will be dropped in different formats. The first, titled Art Official Age, will be a solo album showcasing Prince's funky sound, while the second, Plectrum Electrum, is a collaboration between him and his 3rdEyeGirl band.

"Clouds," an exclusive track from Art Official Age, premiered on Good Morning America on Monday. The cover art for both LPs was revealed by 3rdEyeGirl during the segment.

Though it's been a while since he has released his own albums, Prince appeared on Janelle Monáe's 2013 release, Electric Lady, lending his vocals to the track "Givin' Em What They Love," and he's teased the new projects with recent singles, "Screwdriver," "Breakfast Can Wait" and "The Breakdown."

Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum are both available for pre-order at artofficialage.com and 3rdeyegirl.com, respectively.
