Red Bull Thre3style Finalists Head to Arizona

DJ Jazzy Jeff, Z-Trip set to judge national DJ competition.

Published February 25, 2015

Much like American Idol or The Voice do for vocal talent, Red Bull Thre3style has set out to find the nation’s most talented DJs with their fifth annual competition.

In what has been the biggest year yet, hundreds of DJs from all over the country signed up to compete in regional qualifying rounds, and only a dozen are left standing. Those 12 are headed to Phoenix April 2-4, where they will square off in front of a legendary panel that includes DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Z-Trip and Four Color Zack for the right to be crowned national champion and represent the U.S. in the Red Bull Thre3style World Final, which takes place in Tokyo.

The finalists include:
Washington, D.C., winner Trayze (Mount Rainier, Md.)
Philadelphia winner DJ Reed Streets (Wenonah, N.J.)
Pittsburgh winner DJ Bonics (Philadelphia)
Chicago winner Boi Jeanius (Chicago)
Indianapolis winner DJ Spare Change (Dayton, Ohio)
Kansas City winner DJ B Stee (Kansas City, Kan.)
Eugene winner J Espinosa (San Bruno, Calif.)
San Diego winner Dynamix (Los Angeles)
Phoenix winner DJ Akshen (Phoenix)
Tampa winner DJ Obscene (Miami)
Charlotte winner DJ Jaycee (Atlanta)
New Orleans winner DJ Buck Rodgers (Austin, Texas)

Contestants will be judged on five categories, which include their technicality, skill, creativity, crowd engagement and stage presence.

Fans may also expect sets from the legendary panel of judges, including DJ Jazzy Jeff (April 3) and Z-Trip (April 4).
