The Tribeca Film Festival will premiere a new Mary J. Blige documentary at New York City’s Beacon Theater next month, Billboard reports. Directed by Sam Wrench, Mary J. Blige — The London Sessions follows the creative process of making her 13th studio album released last year.
Blige will also take the stage following the film’s premiere as part of the festival’s Special Screenings series, which pairs films with live performances. The album was recorded over a 10-day period and features U.K. stars like Sam Smith, Disclosure and Emeli Sandé.
This year’s festival welcomes a handful of Special Screenings documentaries including A Ballerina’s Tale, written and directed by Nelson George. The highly anticipated film takes a behind-the-curtains look at Misty Copeland, the first Black soloist at New York’s American Ballet Theater in the last 20 years.
The Tribeca Film Festival runs April 15-26.
