Listen: Eric Bellinger Releases New Music

The R&B singer celebrates birthday with fresh new tracks.

Eric Bellinger is living up to his spot on XXL's 2015 Freshman Class. The Grammy-winning songwriter and R&B recording artist released three surprise tracks over the weekend, giving fans the gift, though it was his birthday. “Text Threads,” “Overrated” and “Viral” are the first tracks released from Bellinger's hotly anticipated debut album, Cuffing Season, due out later this year.
“So today is my birthday, but I wanted to give some gifts to my fans!” explains Bellinger. “I got great feedback on Choose Up Season and am happy that fans are excited for more music, so here’s a preview! Cuffing Season is on the way!”
With the exception of "Viral," Bellinger's ode to social media attention seekers, the other two tracks reflect his new place as a husband and father — Bellinger is expecting a son with wife La'Myia Good (sister of Meagan Good) this year. “Text Threads” samples Montell Jordan’s classic “This Is How We Do It,” while on “Overrated” he describes the single life, using the theme song from the sitcom Living Single.
