Drake may have inadvertently made Zayn Malik's departure from the popular boy band One Direction a bit easier. While preparing to make moves as a solo artist, the 22-year-old was inspired by Drizzy to leave the group.
According to Complex, a source explained that Malik was inspired by both Drake's musical style and his work ethic. "He's really been listening to a lot of Drake's stuff, and has been inspired by his work and wants to channel a little bit of that," the source said.
Malik left 1D earlier this month, claiming that he felt stifled while in the group. According to People, the young singer told The Sun, "I feel like I've let the fans down, but I can't do this anymore. It's not that I've turned my back on them or anything, it's just that I just can't do that anymore because it's not the real me."
