Report: Jay Z Donated Bail Money to Baltimore Uprising

Source close to Hov reveals all, even though he may get mad.

Jay Z and Beyoncé wrote the book on keeping a low profile, and sometimes their restraint can be seen as complacency. Music's first couple have been criticized repeatedly for staying silent on big issues like Ferguson and the Baltimore Uprising, and have even been called uncharitable by Harry Belafonte.

Well, Jay's pal dream hampton can't stay silent any longer. The writer, filmmaker and social justice organizer revealed in a series of tweets that not only is the Roc Nation boss sympathetic to the cause, but he's been funding it with tens of thousands from his own bank account.

"I'm going to tweet this and I don't care if Jay gets mad," Hampton began. "When we need money for bail for Baltimore protestors, I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson, wired tens of thousands in mins."

She continued, "When BLM [Black Lives Matter] needed infrastructure money for the many chapters we're growing like dandelions, Carters wrote a huge check." Concluded Hampton, "...and more stuff, too much to list actually, they always insist folks keep quiet."

Hampton goes on to explain why the Carters' contributions, particularly Jay's funds, which went to provide bail money for protestors, is so important: "They're waging war on black resistance in a multitude of ways, many of them financial. Protest is literally punished with tarrifs."

Hopefully this will put those who criticize the Carters for their so-called complacency in their place. After all, the best kind of charity is one that doesn't come with a press release, right? is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
