Layzie Bone Saves Diabetic Man's Life

Quick thinking on Wyoming highway leads to rapper's hero story.

Even if he doesn’t want to be called a “hero,” Layzie Bone definitely earned the title after an incident in Wyoming last week. The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rapper’s quick thinking helped save a diabetic man’s life.

Layzie was on a highway traveling to Riverton, Wy., for a show later that night when he noticed  a man driving so erratically that he could’ve killed himself and others on the road. “He hit the dirt and came back,” recalled the Grammy winner. “When the concrete met his tires he started spinning instantly.”

It’s a good thing Layzie didn’t live up to his name in this situation. After rushing over to help, he learned that the man was diabetic and in shock. “He didn’t know who anybody was, so I said, 'Do you know Bone Thugs-N-Harmony?' And he kinda woke up. He was like, ‘Yeah, that’s my group!’"

With the help of other bystanders, Layzie fed the man fruit and chocolate to raise his blood sugar. Layzie also made it to his show that night. “When I see negative things, especially things that happen as a blessing, that could have been the worst, I make it into music," he said.
