Talk about Rihanna's upcoming eighth studio album has been buzzing for a while now, and though three singles have already been released from the project, it's apparently still in the production stages. According to The Fader, RiRi is seeking to add a bit of her signature island flare to the currently untitled LP, as word just got out that she's been reaching out to dancehall artists to create new material.

Brooklyn producer, DJ Dre Skull — the founder of Popcaan and Vybz Kartel's current label, Mixpak Records — leaked the news, saying that the "B***h Better Have My Money" songstress has been contacting some of his close artists friends.

"I know firsthand and secondhand that she's been reaching out to a lot of people in the dancehall world," he said. "I'm not suggesting it's gonna be [a dancehall album] but [her people] are excited about dancehall and to work in that sort of context."

In terms of any particular artists or regions that the Bajan singer's people have reached out to, one of Skull's clients and friends was mentioned. "They've reached out to Popcaan, but I've talked to a number of people in Jamaica that they're reached out to."

Dre Skull did say, however, that though Rihanna's team is actively exploring the dancehall music circuit, that doesn't guarantee that any of those collaborations are actually going to happen. If it were to, though, one thing's for sure: R8 would definitely be a genre-diverse LP.
