Wiz Khalifa Is on His Way to Breaking Another Record

"See You Again," featuring Charlie Puth, is truly the song of the summer.

When we spoke to Wiz Khalifa in April about his single “See You Again,” he was humbled that so many people connected with the song and its lyrics.

"It’s cool. No. 1 records are always good for having s**t that people can celebrate and feel good about,” he told BET.com. “And it’s a really dope song too. The fact that it connects with so many people, that’s what is really, really important for me so I’m f**king with it.”

At the time, “See You Again” debuted at No. 100, but shot up to the top spot in just five weeks. It toppled the 14-week reign of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk” and broke numerous Spotify streaming records. Since then, the song is on course to breaking more milestones as it matches the 12-week reigns of two prior singles. It ties the record for the longest run at No. 1 for a rap single.

“See You Again” has spent 12 weeks at No. 1 after entering the spot on April 25. The two other singles previously at the No. 1 spot for 12 weeks are Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” that entered on April 18, 2009, and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” which entered on November 9, 2002.

More interesting info: Billboard reports “See You Again” leads the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a 13th week and the Song of the Summer chart for a sixth week. Is this truly the song of the summer? Numbers don’t lie and it’s safe to assume so.
